Globalisation is not just a matter of market.

The borders enlargement, the economic exchanges development, the diversification concerning tourist flows, and, last but not least, information exchange in the world wide web era have entailed growing occasions of comparison among different cultures, focusing jurists, sociologists and economists attention on the need of facing the different challenges and problems coming on.
The “cultural exchange” could, indeed, represent a concrete and positive instrument of enrichment and mutual comprehension, but only if this process will be tutored by clear and simple rules, able to provide artists and cultural operators, acting in the several economical and juridical contexts marking the different countries, with a transparent frame.
As “importers” and “exporters” of culture, Italy and Japan detain, in this context, a primary role in the worldwide perspective: Italy, with her monuments and fascinating civilisation; Japan with her peculiar and unique figurative and literary cultural background. But also: the cultural links between the two countries represent, nowadays, a historical and deep-rooted tradition, as proved by a strengthened and growing flow of interactions.
Nevertheless, the profound differences characterising social and cultural backgrounds and the respective rules and mechanisms regarding the cultural area have imposed an effort of understanding on both sides.
The aim of the Meeting taking place on November 5th at 10AM in the “Umberto Agnelli” hall, at the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo and presided by Professor Pietro Rescigno, a member of Accademia dei Lincei and Professor Emeritus of Civil Law, is to delve into specific aspects of Italian and Japanese Culture Law, in a comparative perspective.
